Last Friday was Jersey Day in our class! We did lots of number activities with the numbers on our shirts. First, we put ourselves in order from smallest to greatest SILENTLY. Our highest number was 220. Our lowest number was 1. We sorted ourselves into odd and even numbers. To find out if a number is odd or even, take that number of objects and make pairs. If there are no leftovers, the number is even. If there is one leftover, the number is odd. Just in case you have a number over 10, all you have to do is look at the last number to tell if it's odd or even. We also found our spots on the number line. After that, we made number sentences with the numbers on our shirts. We used the number 4 in a lot of our number sentences! We made addition number sentences and subtraction number sentences. We even used more than 3 numbers to make a number sentence. We were excited to make this number sentence: 78+10+12=100. We were impressed that we could make a number sentence with a big number like 220. We were proud of ourselves! 100+78+32+10=220 Questions for our readers:
Do you have a favorite or lucky number? Do you like working with numbers and solving math problems? Can you think of another number sentence using our jersey numbers?

My favorite number is 8, and I have always loved working with numbers! In fact, I use a lot of math in my nursing career :-)

Hi! My name is Bree and I was one of Ms.Young's students last year. I hope you guys had fun on Jersey day. My favorite number is 7. A number sentence that I can think of is 10+12=22. I love working with numbers no matter how hard or easy it is, I just like to have fun with them. I hope you guys have a great fantastic year just like I did.

My favorite numbers are 2 and 7. I do all of of our finances for the family, but I am not particularly a "math " person. I prefer words! Ha Ha! What a wonderful and creative way to learn math!!! LOVE IT!
