This week we had the exciting opportunity to Skype with a class in Hurricane, Utah! We've been talking about urban, suburban and rural communities for the past couple weeks, and this was our chance to talk to a class in a rural community to find out what life was like there. We joined Mrs. Lance's class to ask and answer questions with Mr. Z's class. We each had different jobs: inquirers, answerers, typists, map holders, photographers, greeters and closers. We compared our communities and schools and realized that we have many similarities as well as differences! It was a great experience, and we cannot wait to Skype again! Check out the video below to see just a little of our Skype call. Also, we had two typists that did an awesome job keeping track of all the information we learned. You can see a little of the chart below the video!

We have been learning about urban, suburban and rural communities. If you could live anywhere, what community would you live in and why? Make sure to give 3 reasons why you would want to live in that community.
Hello Second Graders!
I missed you all today, but it sure was fun to have a surprise day off school! My snow day probably wasn't as exciting as yours--I went to the doctor for my allergies, skyped with Mrs. Lance to plan some fun new activities for our classes in the next two weeks, and cleaned and organized my home! What did you do on your snow day? Leave us a comment! Did you build a snowman? How tall is it? Did you go sled riding? Did you drink hot chocolate and watch a movie? I can't wait to hear about your adventures! I will see you tomorrow! Sincerely, Ms. Young |
