Today was our One Hundredth Day of School! We did many fun things on our 100th Day of School. In the morning we received 100th Day glasses to wear and a poster to color that said we are 100 Days Smarter! For our working snack, we tried to see how many words we could make with the letters in "ONE HUNDRED DAYS." Finally, we did an Escape Room Challenge during our Math time. It was called "Crack the Code!" We were given this message:
"Today is the 100th day of school. Your class is planning to have a cake to celebrate, but it has mysteriously disappeared. You only have 60 minutes to find the cake, or your 100th day of school celebration will be ruined. Get working!"
We weren't actually locked in our classroom like real Escape Room challenges. After reading this message, we got to work with our first clues. We had to solve math puzzles and answer riddles to find the next clues. We had to do things like reveal hidden messages, use QR readers to find secret numbers, and search the room for more clues. We each got a chance to participate in reading the clues or scanning the QR codes. We also answered questions like, "What would you buy with $100?" and "What would you like or not like 100 of?" We were able to crack the final code and find the missing cake with 1 minute and 37 seconds to spare!! Since we can't have a real cake at school, we had a picture of a cake, and Mrs. Holliday gave us all Smarties for cracking the code. We finished the game right before lunch, and we thought it was funny to joke that if we didn't escape, we wouldn't have been able to go to lunch! Our 100th Day of School was really fun!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Holliday's Class
