It was fun to watch them because they were funny and talented. We liked when the boys lip-sang the National Anthem and the girls did the "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" dance. When it was all done, we clapped really loud for them!
On Friday, May 9, 2014 we saw the Third Grade's dress rehearsal performance. They marched in and were wearing costumes. When they were in position, they looked like the American flag! They performed patriotic songs. There were lots of songs, jokes about presidents and quotes from presidents. They talked about things from every letter of the alphabet. At the end, they marched away to the same beat they marched in to. We even got to sing some of the songs with them: "God Bless America" and "The Nifty Fifty States."

On January 24th, we saw a Mad Cap Puppet show called Aladdin and Friends at Hilltop School. One of the stories was Gerta and the North Wind, and the other was Aladdin. There was also a little side story about a prize pickle. The stories were really funny! We especially liked the story about Aladdin because they pulled a student up from the audience to be a character in the story! Some of the characters were real people, some were puppets, and some were just heads in a window.
Questions: What puppet shows have you seen before? This morning we saw a production from Mad Cap Puppet Theatre! It was called "The Cinderella Files," and retold the stories "Diamonds and Toads" and "The Crocodile's Baby" with a special twist, adding characters or telling the story from a different character's perspective. We enjoyed it very much, including the special skits involving Mrs. Kroger and two of our very own Second Graders! Be sure to comment and answer our questions at the bottom--we can't to read your comments! What is your favorite fairy tale?
If you could rewrite Cinderella by either adding characters or writing it from a different character's point of view instead of Cinderella, how would your story go? Today we had an assembly called Math Magic and Fun! It was so cool to see different magic tricks and hear how math was involved. We even learned a few tricks to try at home...so we won't be sharing what we learned here on the blog. Be prepared to be amazed!! This was the busiest week we have had this year, jam-packed with activities and events! We started off the week with an assembly about Indian dance and culture, and we even got to participate in some dances! One highlight was when Ms. Young was dressed in a sari. On Tuesday, we watched the Third Grade music concert, and they did a great job! On Wednesday we had the Author visit from Dr. Paul Michael Mullen. Finally, on Friday, we had our Cultural Heritage Parade!! Thank you to all who came out to see our awesome floats!! Here are some pictures from the week! We had an Assembly on Wednesday presented by Mad Cap Puppets! It was called "Tales of Flight with the Brothers Wright." It did not just tell the story of the Wright Brothers though, as you can tell from the pictures below!!
