On January 24th, we saw a Mad Cap Puppet show called Aladdin and Friends at Hilltop School. One of the stories was Gerta and the North Wind, and the other was Aladdin. There was also a little side story about a prize pickle. The stories were really funny! We especially liked the story about Aladdin because they pulled a student up from the audience to be a character in the story! Some of the characters were real people, some were puppets, and some were just heads in a window.

Every Friday we have Dance Party Friday! It is in the afternoon. Every Friday the song is different. It is fun. First Ms. Young puts on a song. Then we dance, but some people just watch us dance. Some of us sing the song too.
In class we are learning about germs. We experimented with two peeled potatoes. One potato we touched with our hands and one we did not touch. Then we put them in a container. Then we waited. The next day, they grew some bacteria. The untouched one was whiter than the touched one. The touched one had more bacteria growing on it. By the end of the week, they both grew a little more bacteria on them, but the touched potato still had more.
In the winter party we made snowmen rulers. They went from 1 to 9 inches. It was fun. We had snacks too. There were snowmen bagels: there was cream cheese for the snow, a cut carrot for the nose and black olives for the eyes. We did Bingo with gumdrops and at the end, we got to keep the gumdrops. It was fun!
On Monday, a zookeeper came. It was a lot of fun! We saw a snake and a Brazilian opossum. The snake was a king snake and the opossum was an adult. We felt the snake. The zookeeper taught us all kinds of stuff like...we learned how some animals are more scared of us than we are scared of them. Then he taught us about animal habitats. |
