This week we went to iSpace for a field trip! We had three parent volunteers come with us. We traveled by bus with Mrs. Lance's class. When we arrived iSpace teachers greeted us and collected our lunches. After a quick restroom break, we went to our first activity. We built cars out of legos with a partner. Then we tested them on a ramp. We predicted how far it would roll down the ramp and then we actually tested it. After the first roll, we made changes to our car. We added weight. We also tested what would happen if we changed the wheel size of the car.
The other activity we did was building an alligator robot. We used legos to make the alligator, and then we hoooked it up to a computer. We were able to write programs to make the alligator make chomping noises and close his mouth! It was so much fun! Check out the video below to see an alligator in action!
We had a very successful Force and Motion Fair this week! Students designed games that used force to work and explained how the games worked. We invited families to come play the games at our first annual Force and Motion Fair! We had a blast, and you can see the pictures from the night in the slideshow below!
