In class we are learning about germs. We experimented with two peeled potatoes. One potato we touched with our hands and one we did not touch. Then we put them in a container. Then we waited. The next day, they grew some bacteria. The untouched one was whiter than the touched one. The touched one had more bacteria growing on it. By the end of the week, they both grew a little more bacteria on them, but the touched potato still had more.
Friday, October 18, 2013 was Walk to School Day. Kids were encouraged to walk to school so we could get exercise and help keep our Earth clean. We got to walk with Mr. Red! Mr. Red was surrounded by kids and he gave them high fives. Some kids were able to get autographs from him too. Once we were at school, we walked the Cowboy Trail until the bell rang. It was fun to walk with Mr. Red!
Does your school have Walk to School Day?
Do you like to walk?
How do you get to school each day?
We've been learning about healthy habits for the past few weeks, and we created commercials to teach others why these healthy habits are important! Check out our Second Grade acting debuts! The video below is our first two groups. There are two other blog posts with the other groups' videos. All these commercials were completely planned and written and executed by the students! Don't forget to leave us comments!
What healthy habit do you practice the best?
What is one healthy habit you could improve in your own life?
This morning many of us participated in Walk to School Day! We are learning to be healthier and practicing healthy habits, such as exercise. Here is a short video clip to show you what we did! Today your child is bringing home some Walk and Bike Safety Tips, as well as a letter about a new initiative going on in our neighborhood, making sure that we are MOVING!!
What do you do to get yourself moving?
What kinds of exercise do you like?
