This week we had a field trip to iSpace! iSpace is a really fun place where we got to learn about science, and we focused on force and motion. We did two different sessions at iSpace: Sheep in a Jeep, and Milo the Space Rover.
First, we did Sheep in a Jeep. We read the book, Sheep in a Jeep . Then we built jeeps with Legos. We got booklets with questions we needed to test with our jeeps. We tested rolling the jeep down a ramp on different surfaces to see which surface helped the jeep go the farthest. We also tested them on ramps and added more weight to them to see if they rolled farther with more weight or less weight. Finally, we tried to build a bridge that would help our jeeps across the mud. That is everything we did in Sheep in a Jeep.
After lunch, we did our second session called Milo the Space Rover. We built space rovers out of Legos, which was difficult to do! Then we programmed them to move by connecting them to a ipad and using a programming app called WeDo 2.0. We were given the challenge of making our space rovers move across a table and stop right at the edge before falling off. It was really fun building Milo!
We had a great time at iSpace! Stay tuned for more Force and Motion blog posts!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Holliday's Class
Questions:
1. What places have you visited that teach about force and motion, or science topics in general?
2. If you have built with Legos, what is the most challenging thing you've built?
