We had so much fun with this project! Every student received a book to read last week. After reading, they made a list of 5 or more events that happened in the story and listed them in order. Then they decided if the events were "good" or "bad" to figure out if it would be a MOVE AHEAD space or LOSE A TURN space. Once the planning was done, we created board games to go with each book! We are donating the books and board games to a local children's charity, Inner City Youth Opportunities (ICYO). We thought this was a great way to give back to children who don't have books to read and games to play each day.

We finished tracking EN's grandparents' big adventure today! They aren't actually done with their trip yet, but we wanted to see how it ends. :) They even got to see the Panama Canal!! It was fun to see where the different points would pop up on our map! View Grammy B and Grand Daddy N's Adventure! in a larger map E.N.'s grandparents are taking a big trip on a cruise right now, so we thought it would be fun to map where they are going during our Friday Free Time! Check out the map below to see where they have been so far! You can zoom out if you cannot see all their stops, or view it as a larger map. We received a post card from Grand Daddy N. today too! We've talked about the directions they've traveled and compared the distances between places. The trip so far has been Sandusky-->Wyoming-->Dayton-->Denver-->Los Angeles-->Cabo San Lucas-->Puerto Vallarta. We found that IF you made this trip by car (and ferry) and used Google for directions, you would have traveled 4, 301 miles so far!! Where do you think they will go next? Have you ever traveled on a cruise or out of the country? Where is the farthest place you've traveled? View Grammy B and Grand Daddy N's Adventure! in a larger map We did a little data analysis about our blog visitors up to this point! Can you believe that we've had 1,201 different visitors to our blog? Those visitors are from 15 different countries and 37 states in the United States--even Hawaii! Check out the pie chart below to see the different countries where our visitors live. We made a list of all the states we have not had visitors from yet. If you know of anyone who lives in these states, we would love for you to pass our blog on! We think it would be really cool to have blog readers from all 50 states. :) Here are the 13 states we still need:
Alaska Arkansas Delaware Idaho Mississippi Montana New Hampshire New Mexico North Dakota South Dakota Vermont West Virginia Wyoming How many visitors do you predict we will have by the end of the school year? What is something special about the state or country you live in? |
