I know you all have been reading a TON this week while you've been home, right? ;) I thought it would be a great idea to share some of the books you've read and loved in case one of your classmates is looking for a great, new book to read. I will start by sharing a little more about our new read aloud, Masterpiece, by Elise Broach. Check out my book recommendation below!
Do you love books that have animals as the main character? Do you love a good mystery? If you do, you should definitely listen in as I read Masterpiece! If you've started listening already, you know this book is about James Pompaday, an 11 year-old boy, and Marvin, a beetle who lives in the Pompaday house. James gets a pen and ink set for his birthday, and Marvin tries it out, creating a very detailed miniature drawing. James finds it, and his mother sees it, thinking James drew it! Everyone gives James credit for the drawing, and he gets lots of attention for it. It leads him to an art museum, where he gets caught up in an art heist (that's another word for robbery)! James has a plan to get an original famous drawing back--but he can't do it without Marvin's help! This is a fast-paced mystery that will leave you on the edge of your seat! See if you can solve it along with me!
I hope you will follow along as I read this book each day (check out the photos of some of your classmates listening in!), but I also hope you will share some of the books you love right now! You can share favorite books that you've read in the past as well as books you are currently reading! I can't wait to get some new books to add to my reading list!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Holliday
Questions:
1. What books have you read and loved? What is the book about? (Don't give away the ending!) Why did you like it? Who would also like reading this book?
2. What do you think of our new read aloud so far? What are your predictions about future events in the story? Is anyone else in your family listening to the story too?
