September 11, 2013 was Patriot's Day. These are pictures of our school's ceremony that we had on Wednesday. Patriot's Day recognizes the people who protect us and keep us safe like military, police officers and firefighters, as well as all the people in the United States who work together to make our country a free and wonderful place to live. At our ceremony, we raised the flag on the flag pole, said the Pledge of Allegiance and sang many patriotic songs. The songs we sang were The National Anthem, You're a Grand Old Flag, My Country Tis of Thee, and O'Beautiful for Spacious Skies. All the students in the school, the teachers, and many parents came to the ceremony. Questions for our Readers: What did you do for Patriot's Day? Have you ever been to a ceremony? I have been to many Patriot Day ceremionies! I have taught my students patriotic songs, and we have sung them together. I have also had the priveledge of singing Lee Greenwood's song "God Bless the USA" at a few of these important ceremonies. Great singing kids!
