Nick Bruel came to visit our school yesterday. He is an author and illustrator who writes the Bad Kitty books. He told us how he came up with Bad Kitty. He thought of a list of titles, and found the one he liked best, Bad Kitty. Then he came up with a story after he had the title. He taught us how to think of an idea for a story, and we actually created one called Worried Bunny. He also taught us the most important thing to do when trying to write a story is to "Always Ask Yourself Questions." He asked us lots of questions to help us create this story. It was so fun! He also drew three faces of Bad Kitty and did just little changes to his eyes to completely change his emotion. By changing the dots in the middle of his eyes, he could make Bad Kitty look surprised, crazy, and adorable. He also showed us how he draws the full picture of Bad Kitty. He also read one chapter of his new book, Bad Kitty Camp Daze. It just came out last week! If we ordered some of his books, he even signed them for us with a picture! It was a neat experience to learn from a published author!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Holliday's Class
